Danone
Future of work

Research and consultancy in the configuration of new workspaces for the remodelling and updating of its R&D offices in Barcelona.
The challenge
The main challenge of the project was to carry out a thorough investigation of the needs of Danone employees to improve the distribution of interdepartmental spaces in their R&D offices in Barcelona.
Our main approach was to understand the needs of the employees in the different departments through qualitative and quantitative research. This allowed us to understand both technical aspects, such as the space and machinery requirements of each employee, and behavioural aspects, such as the frequency of their presence in the office, their interactions with colleagues, the number of daily meetings and travel, among others.
The ultimate goal was to design people-centred solutions that would optimise the centre's spaces and improve the employees' work experience.

The workshop
After analyzing all the information gathered during the research phase, we conducted a participatory workshop with key stakeholders from each department, including the executive leadership, with the aim of validating the main needs and outlining possible solutions tailored to the new requirements.
The result was a co-created distribution among all participants, stemming from debate and understanding of all departmental needs, where new interconnected spaces were defined to enhance synergies and interactions among teams.

The design charter
Finally, a functional document was drawn up with all the use case, programmatic, functional, technical and environmental needs, compiled both in the research phase and in the conclusions reached in the workshop, so that the team from the architectural studio in charge of the refurbishment could formulate a technical and economic proposal for all the proposed solutions.
